A feasibility study of commercial grape production in the Lytton-Lillooet area of British Columbia was done with vines planted in 2005 and 2006 at various test sites. Looking at the average Growing Degree Days (GGD) for this area and placing them in the four growing degree day suitability classes used for growing vinefera and French hybrid varieties in the Okanagan and Similkameeen Valleys this area as far as GGD would rank in the top two, 'Most Suitable and Good Suitability' classes for growing grapes.
The Fort Berens Estate Winery producing more and more wines from grapes grown in their own vineyard and being success full at that is living proof that the area is suitable for growing grapes.
