Peachland is a small community located a few kilometres south of West Kelowna. The District of Peachland has a land area of 15.75km² and a population of 4,698.
In 1978 Chateau Jonn de Trepanier was first Estate Winery licensed in British Columbia. This winery went through several owners and names, first as Chateau Jonn de Trepanier then Claremont Estate which closed in 1986, to be reopened as Chateu Ste Claire the following year and becoming the First Estate Cellars in 1998, a name it still holds today.
In 1988 Hainle Vineyards opened its doors and in 1990 A&H Vineyards was added. A&H Vineyards closed in 1997 and Hainle, in 2003, became known as the Deep Creek Wine Estate & Hainle Vineyards Estate Winery. This same year Greata Ranch Vineyards started up which is now known as Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards.
In 2009 the Working Horse Winery opened its doors at the same location where Walter Hainle made his first Ice wine in 1973. The first commercial Ice wine was offered for sale 1978 and was the first Ice wine sold in North America. The Working Horse Winery and vineyard were destroyed by the Peachland wild fire in September, 2012.
