The city of Vernon is located on the north end of Okanagan Lake and has a population of well over 40000.
The first winery in the Vernon area dates back to 1994 when Bella Vista Vineyard opened its doors. They were joined by The Cellars At The Rise in 2010 releasing wines under the StompinGround Winery label.
Bella Vista closed up in 2005 and was to re-emerge as the Turtle Mountain Winery. Turtle Mountain even though it has a winery building and a vineyard, is not a producing winery and is used as a wedding venue.
In 2011 The Planet Bee Meadery started selling honey wines and in 2014 a land based cidery, The Bx Press Inc. started selling its ciders.
At the present, plenty of vineyards but there are no grape wine producing wineries in the Vernon Area.
